Regions

Peru is a country in western South America characterized by the Andes Mountains, the vast Amazon rainforest, fertile coastal plains, and diverse river systems.

๐Ÿ“ Peru is a country located in western South America, positioned along the Pacific coast and spanning diverse geographic regions. It is bordered by Ecuador and Colombia to the north, Brazil to the east, Bolivia to the southeast, and Chile to the south, with a coastline along the Pacific Ocean to the west.
Peruโ€™s landscape is highly varied, consisting of three main regions: the coastal desert along the Pacific, the Andes Mountains running through the center, and the Amazon rainforest in the east. The Andes include high peaks and plateaus, while the Amazon Basin supports dense tropical forests and river systems.
Peruโ€™s location has historically made it a center of ancient civilizations such as the Inca Empire, as well as a key area for trade and cultural exchange in South America.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used worldwide in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the countryโ€™s ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
