Iraq is a country in Western Asia characterized by desert landscapes, fertile river valleys formed by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and mountainous regions in the north.

📍 Iraq is a country located in Western Asia (the Middle East), positioned in the region historically known as Mesopotamia between two major rivers. It is bordered by Turkey to the north, Iran to the east, Kuwait to the southeast, Saudi Arabia to the south, Jordan to the southwest, and Syria to the west, with a small coastline along the Persian Gulf to the southeast.
Iraq’s landscape includes fertile plains formed by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which run through the country and have supported agriculture and civilization for thousands of years. The terrain also includes deserts in the west and southwest, and mountainous regions in the north near the borders with Turkey and Iran. Iraq’s central location in the Middle East has historically made it a key center of early civilization, trade, and cultural development.

What is an ISO Country Code?

ISO country codes come from the international standard ISO 3166 created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). These codes are used globally in databases, aviation systems, banking, shipping, and international data systems to uniquely identify countries and territories.

ISO 3166-1 codes are the two-letter country codes such as US, FR, or JP. These are called Level-1 ISO codes.

Only ISO 3166-1 codes support flag emojis. Flag emojis are created by combining two Unicode regional indicator letters that match the country's ISO two-letter code.

ISO 3166-2 codes represent states, provinces, or regions. Example: US-AZ = Arizona CA-ON = Ontario Subdivision codes do not have flag emojis.
