Missed-call text-back is a small piece of automation with an unusually direct return.
Somebody rings while you are on a ladder, with a customer, or driving. They hang up. They ring the next number on the list. That is the whole loss, and it happens constantly in trades, clinics and small agencies.
A missed call can trigger a text message within seconds: sorry we missed you, what do you need, we will call back. It costs almost nothing and it converts a dead call into a conversation you can answer when you are free.
It works because of timing, not cleverness. The person still has the problem, still has their phone in their hand, and has not yet called your competitor. Ten minutes later that is no longer true.
The same principle runs through most of the automation worth having. Booking confirmations that stop the no-show. A reminder the day before. A follow-up after the job asking how it went, which catches a complaint before it becomes a review.
None of it is artificial intelligence and none of it needs to be. It is a small number of messages, sent at the right moment, without anybody having to remember.
